Second Nature Event Will Bring New Attire To Central Paphos Gardens

16 Feb 2017
Second Nature is an official project that implies regenerating the already-forgotten gardens situated in the central part of old Paphos. Actually, these territories have long been a matter of discussions and disagreements between the Church and the Municipality. The latter has been leasing these gardens for over several decades, while the Church is the official owner of the territories. There are rumors spread the municipality is planning to exchange them for some other plot thus becoming the only official owner. And even though this project has not yet been formalized, a municipality spokesman states that they are in constant touch with the Bishop of Paphos over the matter. As soon as within the upcoming weeks, a solution is expected to be achieved.

Anyway, the organizer of Pafos2017 event architect Valentinos Stefanou states that they have got a permission to implement the entire reconstruction project right away. The project is aimed to bring people back to these gardens due to the attractive new appeal of the latter. All the aesthetic additions will be presented via temporary installations. Right at this minute, works are being carried out on the entire territory of the gardens. The official presentation and opening is appointed on Sunday from 3.30pm to 5.30pm.
Stephanou confesses that the old look of the space was awful, to say the least of it. Situated in the center of the town, these gardens ought to look respectively. And in a few days, the area will look as attractive and unique as never before! For the task, seven teams of professional architects and talented artists from Denmark, Cyprus, and China were created. They have worked on the installations, which will be removed only in a year. And what concerns the comfortable and stylish new benches Paphos citizens will enjoy sitting on, they are entrusted to a popular artist Michalis Papamichael. The project is included in the ReBench program. The latter is known for using exceptionally recycled materials and creating awe-inspiring modern benches.
