The doubts with drinking water quality in Coral Bay area in Peyia accured this February, but only in June when the samples analysis from boreholes has shown that the water was not suitable for drinking in about 300 units, the state authorities have admitted the problem.



The great majority of houses that were not connected to the municipal supply system had no opportunity to use the water from boreholes so they had to buy it outside. Moreover this area is highly popular with tourists so the homeowners had to raise the rent what became a negative factor for the realty demand.
So far around 70% of the houses were connected to the municipal system. Authorities also provided the deep analysis of the drinking water once in a week but in unofficial talk they say that water from boreholes can be polluted again because of the building and chemicals for agricultural purposes.
For other houses the new dwelling has to be provided that surely have to reach deeper layers of ground waters so it is naturally filtered. As well as the water supply system has to be renewed and the new branch installed for 8km from the development.
So the problem is solved only partially and few comments from authorities make it hard to analyze for now.
