More than 60 women from Greek and Turkish expat communities took part in an event, creating a tremendous crochet piece. The mission of this extravagant event was peace, friendship and liberty promotion, as Christiana Mouzouri, one the multiple co-ordinators, claimed.
Here is her statement to the Cyprus Mail Service: “Three years ago, right after getting a friend with Nilgun Akin, a Cypriot woman with Turkish roots living in Kyrenia, our community decided to found the Cyprus Women’s Association. The main mission of our organization was bridging the friendship gap between Turkish and Greek women living on the Cyprus”.
As a result, Peace2Peace was formed, which is recognized to be a bi-communal event unifying fair sex from all the country. The participants share ideas, get rid of prejudices and learn each other.

One pair of good friend was created while their daughters took part in the NGO programme, allowing changing places with host families from the USA. Today, as friends declare, nothing can affect their relationships.
As Mouzouri told us, she began crocheting several years ago, as soon as she met Akin, who pulled her to this hobby.
“Once Elena Daniel generated the idea to decorate the old anchor with a yarn bombing. And we decided to support the idea within our Peace2Peace programme”.
Women believe that their installation is the first one on the territory of Cyprus. They singled out that the main goal of the event was not an artistic side, but the strengthen of international relationships.
On July 6, after they post the appropriate news on Facebook, the community was overwhelmed by a huge response. As a result, 57 new women joined the association.
Many women were just learning to crochet, but they also wished to participate in the event.
Mouzouri underlines that the event can be more recognized as a pilot venture since it unified many new members. The number of women exceeded the needed one and some pieces were not used for the old anchor decoration. Nevertheless, all these pieces will be included in the next project, which will be most likely based on a tree from the Paphos gardens and behold in September.

“Pafos2017 is expected to be the greater project, which will be called “re-visiting Moutallos” and will be organized in the Paphos neighbourhood where live Turkish Cypriot”.
Mouzouri stressed also that they have managed to get in touch with women from other cities even.
